Rare Storytellers Proudly Presents: Women and Rare Disease

The Mellowes Center is a proud partner of Harmony 4 Hope, a nonprofit synthesizing stories, songs, and science to educate, empower, and fuel Rare Disease research. Rare Storytellers will take place immediately following day one of the Mellowes Center’s Rare Diseases & Rare Cancers in the Era of System Biology Symposium in the Medical College of Wisconsin’s Bolger Auditorium.

Special guest, Michael R. Lovell, PhD, President of Marquette University, will share his story of diagnosis with a rare form of sarcoma that affects less than 2,000 people each year at the in-person Rare Storytellers Meets Milwaukee. Since his diagnosis in the fall of 2021, he has undergone multiple rounds of chemotherapy, but has never missed a day of work, attending hundreds of events with the campus and Milwaukee communities.
Rare Storytellers meets Milwaukee will synthesize stories, songs, and science to educate, empower, and fuel rare disease research with multiple pillars of the Milwaukee community including –

- Dr. John Charlson, Medical Guest, Associate Professor, Dept. of Medicine, Division of Hematology and Oncology, MCW

This Rare Storytellers will take place during the Medical College of Wisconsin’s Rare Diseases & Rare Cancers in the Era of System Biology Symposium, hosted by the Mellowes Center, to showcase new and innovative research focused on the genetic understanding and treatment of rare diseases and rare cancers.
